Pictograph Cave State Park invites contemplation of Montana's ancient human habitation. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 for its archaeological significance, visitors today can explore the mysteries of this extraordinary site and its visitor center. A pleasant 3/4-mile loop trail to the caves is accompanied by interpretative displays explaining the natural features, prehistoric paintings, and local vegetation.
